Introducing the Belonging Score — a new WishWell innovation for schools.
Privacy & Trust

Privacy Policy & FERPA Commitment

Belonging Score™ is built with privacy as a core feature — not an afterthought. Every data decision protects students first.

Effective August 2026

1. Who We Are

The Belonging Score™ is a product of WishWell Counseling & Empowerment Center (“WishWell,” “we,” “us”). WishWell is an empowerment coaching center specializing in school programs grounded in student connection. This policy explains how we handle information collected through belongingscore.com and through the Belonging Score program delivered in partner schools.

Questions about this policy can be sent to vereniceh@wishwellcc.com.

2. Information We Collect

Website visitors: when you submit a demo or consultation request, we collect the name, work email, school or district, role, approximate student count, and any message you choose to share. We also collect privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (page views, referrers, scroll depth) that do not identify you personally and do not use advertising cookies.

School programs: when a school runs the Belonging Score, students respond to a short connection survey. Responses are collected under the school’s direction and may include a student identifier supplied by the school so that staff can follow up with the students who need support.

3. FERPA and the School Official Role

Student survey responses are education records under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). WishWell processes them as a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest, acting only on the instructions of the partner school or district and under the school’s direct control.

We do not sell student data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train commercial models. We do not disclose student-level data to any third party except as directed in writing by the school or as required by law.

4. How Information Is Used

Demo and consultation requests are used solely to respond to you and to plan a possible program at your school.

Student responses are used to produce individual Belonging Scores for authorized school staff and de-identified, aggregate insights (grade level, campus, trend over time) for school leadership. Aggregate reporting is suppressed for groups too small to protect anonymity.

The Belonging Score is a signal for care, never a diagnostic label, a disciplinary input, or a ranking of students.

5. Who Can See the Data

Individual scores are visible only to school staff the district authorizes, and to the limited WishWell personnel who deliver and support the program.

Access is restricted by role-based authentication, and administrative dashboards require an approved account.

6. Storage, Security, and Retention

Data is stored in access-controlled cloud infrastructure, encrypted in transit and at rest, with row-level access rules that limit each account to the records it is permitted to see.

Student data is retained for the duration of the school’s program plus the period the school requires for continuity, and is deleted or returned at the school’s written request. Demo and consultation requests are retained for up to 24 months unless you ask us to remove them sooner.

7. Families and Students

Families are informed by the school about the Belonging Score program and what it measures, and our Family Guide explains the process in plain language.

Parents and eligible students exercise FERPA rights — to inspect, request correction of, or ask about the disclosure of education records — through their school or district. WishWell supports schools in fulfilling those requests.

8. Your Choices

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete a demo or consultation request you submitted by emailing vereniceh@wishwellcc.com. You can also opt out of follow-up communication at any time.

9. Cookies and Analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not set advertising cookies, do not build cross-site profiles, and do not track individual visitors across the web. Essential cookies may be used to keep authorized staff signed in to the administrative dashboard.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the program evolves. Material changes affecting student data will be communicated to partner schools directly. The effective date below reflects the most recent update.
